Donald's Story

"Better Together is keeping me together."

Donald Stokes had been living homeless in Las Vegas. He had been caught up in life on the streets, caught up in drugs when he eventually became tired of this way of life and needed a change. He decided to head to North Dakota.

Initially, he was staying at the New Life Center. But after about 6 months Marie from Better Together ND visited the center and asked if anyone needed help with housing. Donald immediately told her that yes, he needed help with this.

Come August 2024, it will be about two years that Donald has been helped by Better Together ND. He explains we all need someone in our corner, someone to help make us a better person, give us a vision and Better Together ND has done this for him and continues to do so.

You only have one life, Donald explains. And Better Together ND is the backbone that helps him keep his life together.
